[custom_headline type=”left” level=”h1″ looks_like=”h2″ accent=”true”]The Best Camping Hammock with Mosquito Net[/custom_headline]

Camping is awesome, mosquitos are not. There’s nothing worse than trying to get some sleep after a long day of paddling or hiking, just to be eaten alive. Because of this, I’ve put together a list of the best camping hammock with mosquito net.

Happy Hammock Camper

Sure, you could use a tent… If you were a caveman.

If you want to be hip, hammock camping is the way to go!

Seriously, using a hammock has pretty much changed the way I camp, consequently, that’s why I advocate for hammock camping.  If you’re like me and suffer from constant back pain, especially after backpacking or kayaking all day, lying on the ground just doesn’t sound fun.

With a tent, there are poles, and stakes to contend with as well as assuring the ground is flat enough.  As a result, this just causes me headaches.

My only real concern about the location I’ll be going is if there are enough trees.

Find 2 trees, throw my straps on and hook up my hammock!

Since all these below have attached mosquito nets, you’ll too enjoy bug-free nights of sleep!

The perfect amount of trees (and the perfect location to set up a hammock)

The List:

  1. Hennessy Hammock – Cub Zip
  2. Everest Double Hammock
  3. Hennessy Hammock – Deep Jungle Zip
  4. Lawson Hammock Tent
  5. Hammock Bliss Lay Flat Hammock
  6. Hennessy Hammock – Jungle Expedition
  7. Grand Trunk Skeeter Beeter
  8. isYoung Hammock with Mosquito Net
  9. Hennessy Hammock – Explorer Zip
  10. GoRoam RipStop Hammock
  11. Hennessy Hammock – Expedition Zip
  12. GO! Outfitters Hammock
  13. Hennessy Hammock – Deep Jungle XL

If you want to jump right to a specific camping hammock, just pick from the list.  They all have built-in mosquito nets, so no more bugs.

Based on weight capacity, packing weight, reviews, features, and value, I’ve given my overall pick.

This one won’t be for the average adult male, but for a child, teen, or smaller woman, this is perfect.

It’s the Hennessy Hammock Cub with Zip enclosure.  It’s very light at only 2 lbs., therefore packing and carrying it will keep your weight down.

With a weight limit of only 120 lbs., it really limits the number of people that can safely use this one.

Since it’s built like all the other Hennessy Hammocks, you know it’s done right.  With a built-in mosquito net and removable rainfly, lounging at your campsite has never been sweeter.

Check out any of the other hammocks on this list for a higher weight limit.

Just figured I’d throw this one in for the smaller people and kids!

So, this thing is a tent-hammock, and it’s pretty cool!Lawson Hammock Blue Ridge Tent Hammock

This little baby can be used as either a tent or a hammock.

I know, amazing.

The Lawson Blue Ridge Camping Hammock was rated #1 by publications like Backpacker and Outside.

Basically, it uses an arch pole system to keep the mosquito netting up in the typical tent fashion.  Because of this, it can be laid on the ground like a tent or suspended like a hammock.

If hung like a hammock, the spreader bars help keep the hammock flatter and tauter.  This helps reduce the cocoon feeling you’d get from typical hammocks.

It has an attachable rainfly so no need to tie off additional lines or stakes.  Great for those times you forget extra paracord.

Features:

[column type=”1/2″]

  • Total Weight: 4.25 lbs. (including poles, rain fly, and stuff sack)
  • Interior Length: 90 in.
  • Interior Width: 42 in.
  • Packing Size: Packs to 22in x 6 in.
  • Weight Limit: 275 lbs.
  • Color: Forest Green
  • Hammock body made of ripstop-nylon and poly pack cloth.

[/column] [column type=”1/2″ last=”true”]

  • No-see-um net canopy keeps bugs out.
  • Waterproof nylon border on the canopy protects against water blowing up under the rain fly.
  • Waterproof ripstop-nylon rainfly included.
  • Strong spreader bars and shock-corded aluminum arch poles for the mosquito net.
  • Two interior storage pockets.
  • O-ring in the ceiling for hanging a light.
  • Stuff sack included.
  • Use suspended or on the ground.

[/column]

This thing is just awesome! The versatility of the Lawson Blue Ridge exceeds the other contenders here.

Having the option to set it up as a tent if there are no trees takes this one to the next level. It is a little heavier than most here, but still very manageable at less than 5 lbs.

OK, I’ll be honest, this one is the cheapest of them all.  Under $30 cheap.

If you know anything about camping gear, you know you get what you pay for.  Hammocks are no different.

While the specs on this one seem great, I really don’t know how well it will hold up over time.  This to me seems more like a backyard or a one-night campout type of hammock.

Although it did get good reviews on comfort and ease of use, problems with runs or tears seem to pop up after extended use.  Another complaint is the “structure” that holds the netting up.  Some have complained that the poles fail, causing the net to cave in.  Customer support seems to take care of these issues rather quickly though so that’s nice.

Just keep that in mind when deciding.

If you’re an every weekend camper, maybe go the next step up, but for a backyard camper, this is great!  It’ll keep the bugs and leaves out for sure.

This is the one I have and I absolutely love it.

I’m nowhere near 7′ tall or 300 lbs, but I wanted the extra room so I got this one.  I’m so glad I did.

I’ve used it in the middle of summer and the edges of winter, with not a single complaint.  Don’t misunderstand, in the winter, you will need some sort of insulation under you.

Hennessy makes an underpad specifically for that reason.  Then it’s a 4 season hammock!

The lines are strong and you can just tell they are going to last.

I did tie off my carabiners to the lines.  This way I just wrap my tree straps around and hook in my carabiners.

Easy peasy!

I would 100% absolutely recommend this hammock to my friend or family member.  No question.  It’s comfortable, strong, compact, and most of all, really fun to lay in!!

Like the other one, I’d say this one would be great for the occasional camper or the backyard adventurer.

Any long-term camping though, I’d still suggest spending the extra money if you can.

The GO! Outfitters Camping hammock was originally funded on Kickstarter and with such an overwhelming response, they’re now available on Amazon.

Designed by experts it features an 11′ length which allows the body to lay flatter than with shorter hammock.

It’s packed weight is about 2.5 lbs, so not too bad.  It can be stuffed into the 10″ x 7″ x 3.5″ stuff sack and packed tightly away.

Made from 100% nylon, it’s soft and comfortable as well as strong and durable.

A good mid-budget hammock.

You will need to pack a tarp or purchase a rainfly though!

This is the big brother to the Deep Jungle.

The XL adds an extra 50lbs to the total weight limit making it a total of 300lbs.

You gain an extra foot in height limit as well, so if you’re pushing 7′, you shouldn’t have any problems fitting into the Deep Jungle XL.

It’s a side entrance hammock with heavy duty YKK zipper.

Just like the Deep Jungle, the XL has the double layer of tightly woven 30D ripstop nylon.

Perfect 3 season hammock for the larger bodied jungle adventurer!

Overall versatility when kayak camping is the most important thing.  As a result, the Lawson Hammock Blue Ridge Camping Hammock and Tent is my top pick.

First of all, the ability to tent or hammock camp is amazing when paddling or hiking new areas where trees or flat land may be unavailable.

This one gives you options.  I like options.

The spreader bars help keep the hammock as flat as possible.  Having the mosquito netting canopy semi-rigid like this is nice for when you’re just relaxing.

You don’t need to worry about the netting coming in on you.  It’s great for when you’re reading.

Second Place

If The Lawson isn’t your style, then my absolute next pick would be the Hennessy Hammock Explorer Deluxe Zip.

This is the one I have and have used, for many years hiking, paddling, and for backyard leisure and for that reason I would absolutely recommend it to anyone!

The rainfly is an absolute life-saver.  I’ve been in some severe downpours and it didn’t leak once!
